Hosur is a town and a municipality in Krishnagiri district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a taluk of Krishnagiri district. It is located about 40 kilometres south-east of Bangalore and 38 kilometres from Krishnagiri. Hosur is known for its expanding manufacturing industries and its pleasant climate. Hosur has taken its cue and is now booming with the large presence of manufacturing industries in the city which parallels the meteoric rise of Bangalore as an information technology hub in India. The automobile industry here is instrumental in creating more interest in the city for investment opportunities and economic growth. The State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited (SIPCOT) has been a catalyst in the development of industries in backward areas of Tamil Nadu and was instrumental from the 1980’s in assisting Hosur’s evolution into an ideal destination for manufacturing companies to set up shop. Hosur is also known for being the largest single region to export roses from India. The TANFLORAInfrastructure Park at Madhagondapalli near Hosur is the largest exporter of roses toEurope. The patented “Taj Mahal” rose is the most popular export.
