Situated in the Saurashtra region of the state and around 302 km from Ahmedabad Jamnagar is a historic city overflowing with many ornate and old buildings and colourful markets. The Jadeja Rajputs known as Jams built the 450-year-old city of Jamnagar around the Rammol Lake and the town is named after them. In the center of the lake is a small palace reached by a causeway. The town also has the only Ayurvedic University in the country and is famous for its pearl fisheries tie-and-dye fabrics and bandhini textile work. The city is also known for featuring India’s only Ayurvedic university. Jamnagar has a lake called Lakhota lake which is very popular in the world.
