Amboli is a hill station in south Maharashtra India. Located in the Sahyadri ranges in the Western Ghats Amboli is a quaint hill station surrounded by thick forests of the Anjani tree and plantations of cardamom; and crisscrossed by a number of tiny streams. The main attraction for tourists is the incredibly high rainfall (7 meters average per year!)and the numerous waterfalls and mist during the monsoons. There arent too many places to see or things to do but its quiet unpolluted and the local residents are good natured and helpful. This hill station has historical significance and it is said that about one hundred eight shiv temples are there in this town and till now only about a dozen are known. Nice unpolluted environment gives it its distinctive identity and draws people again and again to explore its natural beauty.
