Akola is a city in the state of Maharashtra located in the Vidarbha region of central India. Akola is one of the leading industrial as well as agricultural districts of Maharahtra. Akola city has a prominent industrial zone on the outskirts known as Akola MIDC Industrial Area. It also has the famed Agricultural University Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth which attracts students from all over for its Agricultural and Industrial courses. Akola also called Cotton City is known for its cotton production and is the largest cotton-producing district in India. The city is also famous for its pulses(dal) oil and textiles mills. Akola has a long history and many of the forts exhibit the beautiful past it had. Some of the forts in Akola include Akot and Narnala forts.
