Mandu or Mandavgarh originally a fortress town is located about 40 km. from Dhar and 98 km. from Indore in Madhya Pradesh. Mandus old name Shadiabad was dubbed from a then Muslim ruler Alauddin Khilji which means the city of happiness.The town of Mandu holds historical significance as it was situated on a rocky outcrop and became the defense capital of the Rajput Parmara rulers of Malwa.
