Murudeshwara is a beach town in the Bhatkal taluk of Uttara Kannada. The origin of the name is intertwined in the folklore of India and is actually another name of Lord Shiva. Situated between Honavar and Bhatkal Murudeshwara is a picturesque holy place famous for its ancient Murudeshwara temple. It now has the world’s tallest idol of Neelkanta or Lord Shiva towering at 123 feet.
