Pahalgam is a town and a notified area committee in Anantnag district in Indias northernmost state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is a popular tourist destination and every year many tourists visit Pahalgam. Pahalgam is a mountain paradise tucked away amidst dense forests of pine cedar and deodars and surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks. It is the starting point for the annual pilgrimage of Amarnath Yatra. Situated at an altitude of 2133 m the town is at the confluence of the Aru and Sheshnag rivers. It is a charming hill station ideal for summer vacations and is the base for many treks to Kishtwar and SuruValley.
