Morjim is a beautiful village that lies in the Pernem district in north Goa. The main occupation of the villagers here is still mainly Fishing and farming. People in Morjim celebrate festivals of Sangodd Sao Joao and St Roque very enthusiastically. They are also crazy about football and Bullfights which is banned by law now. The Morjim beach is an isolated beach situated on the north side of the mouth of Chapora river estuary. It is a beach that has stretches of empty sand with a lot of palms and casuarinas trees in the background. The beach is most famous for the famous Olive Ridley turtles that are found here and is also recommended for viewing sea birds. The Hindu-Christian village of Morjim in Goa is also known for the temple of Shri Morjai which is an ancient historic temple. Here the main festival is celebrated only once in three five seven or nine years and is known as Kalas Utsav.
