It is a vast stretch of white sand that begins where Colva beach tapers off and is famous for fishing or simply lazing around. Located in southGoa this beach town is a little south of Margo. According to folklore Lord Parashurama shot an arrow from the Sahyadris to the Konkan land which landed here hence it is also called Banavali. The Church of St John the Baptist on the hill beyond the village and the Nossa Senhora de Merces Church are famous churches of the area.
