Panipat is an ancient and historic city in Panipat district Haryana state India. It is 90 km north from Delhi and 169 km south of Chandigarh on NH-1 and comes under the National Capital Region of Delhi. Three battles fought at the city were turning points in Indian history. The city is famous in India by the name of "City of Weaver".Panipat is also believed to be one among the five villages that the Panch Pandavas requested from Duryodhan in exchange for lasting peace. Panipat has earned a pride of place in the international market for its handloom products. In addition Panipat also has a good industrial base and is known for the production of agricultural implements.
